21 July 2023

Petrolina was recognized in the 2022 Boussias Cyprus Responsible Business Awards, earning a gold and bronze award in the ‘Disaster Relief’ and ‘Volunteer Program’ categories respectively.

Petrolina consistently supports Cypriot society, not only by prioritizing its role in the island's economic development but by serving the needs of the people through various actions and initiatives, particularly during times of crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Petrolina was one of the first companies to respond to the government’s call for aid, providing substantial support to vulnerable groups and frontline workers. Similarly, Petrolina is an active member of the #SupportCy Network, participating in different initiatives, including those that helped extinguish the deadly fires in the mountainous regions of Larnaca and Limassol.

Petrolina's vision consistently revolves around having a positive social impact and fostering collective progress. As part of this, Petrolina has established two volunteer groups, the "Petrolina Community" and the "Petrolina Kids Community," which are comprised of employee members and their families. These dedicated volunteers wholeheartedly embrace the concept of social solidarity, and actively contribute to the company's initiatives for the benefit of Cypriot society.

With these two awards, Petrolina proves that giving back to society is embedded in the company’s culture. Petrolina's activities in both the business sector and its extensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are a deeply ingrained part of their everyday reality. Ms Georgia Lefkariti, Executive Director of Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd, added that “supporting Cypriot society in times of crisis is the only sensible and natural response for the company.”

During the award ceremony, the importance of acknowledging the efforts of businesses was underscored by both the Minister of Labour, Giannis Panayiotou, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis. They emphasized that such recognition serves as an inspiration to both businesses and society as a whole for further progress in these areas.
