Firefighting and personnel rescue exercise at Petrolina's Vassiliko facilities
28 November 2022

Petrolina hosted the Cyprus Fire Service for a firefighting and rescue exercise at its state-of-the-art Vassiliko facilities.  The exercise was conducted as part of the Petrolina and Cyprus Fire Service’s training activities for operational readiness.

The exercise simulated a fire breaking out on the roof of a fuel tank due to a spark generated by a tool.  For the simulation, two of the personnel on the roof of the tank managed to descend through the tank ladder, while a third became unconscious at the scene.

The newly established Vassiliko Fire Station responded with their fire-engines and modern equipment, which can produce large quantities of foam, able to extinguish the fire and perform the rescue operation.  These efforts were supported by Petrolina's advanced and automated fire-fighting system, capable of extinguishing fires and cooling adjacent fuel tanks.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction for the success of the exercise.  Petrolina and the Cyprus Fire Service stressed the importance of their continued close cooperation, which increases their familiarity with the fully automated and ultra-modern fire-fighting systems at Petrolina's Vassiliko facilities, so that in the event of an emergency, both Petrolina and the Cyprus Fire Service can respond promptly and effectively.
